How are volcanoes distributed on the map?

Q: How are volcanoes distributed on the map?

A: The volcanoes are distributed mostly o coastline, especially on tectonic plate boundaries. Most volcanoes are found along a belt, called the “Ring of Fire” that encircles the Pacific Ocean.

The volcanoes aren't randomly distributed over the Earth's surface. Most of the volcanoes are concentrated on the edges of continents, along island chains, or beneath the sea.

There are around 1500 potentially active volcanoes worldwide.
