May 20, 2020: A loud sound heard in Bangalore on Wednesday afternoon left the city residents panicked. The sound was heard from as far as the Bengaluru airport in Devanahalli to the IT hub of Electronic City.
Several residents posted on Twitter, wondering if an earthquake had hit the Karnataka capital.
However, the Karnataka's natural disaster monitoring centre confirmed that it was not because of an earthquake. The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre tweeted that they have checked sensors and there is no earthquake activity recorded today.
Later people shared it to be sonic boom caused due to a fighter jet. But, the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) claimed it to be false.
Bengaluru Police has n't received report of any damage or injuries. The Bengaluru Police are yet to ascertain the source of the noise.
