April 3, 2020: Tropical Cyclone Harold has formed in the Coral Sea, southwest of Honiara, according to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM).
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology said Tropical Cyclone Harold, a category one, is 245 km west southwest of Honiara, the capital city of Solomon Islands.
Tropical Cyclone Harold is forecast to intensify to category 2 strength as it approaches Solomon Islands.
On 1st April 2020, a tropical low was formed centered between the Solomon Islands and the eastern coast of Papua New Guinea. Later, BOM upgraded the tropical low into a Category 1 tropical cyclone, and named it Harold.
Harold is the 8th named storm of the 2019/20 South Pacific tropical cyclone season.

Tropical Cyclone Harold Warning
The Solomon Islands Meteorological Services has issued number five warning. A tropical cyclone warning is in effect for all provinces. At 5:00 pm local time, tropical cyclone harold was located approx. 103 km South Southwest of Santa Catalina, Makira Province.
Gale force winds of 63-87 km per hour is expected to affect Guadalcanal, Malaita, Makira, Rennel Bellona and Temotu provinces. Landslides and coastal flooding are expected in the region.
