According to the LA Department of Water and Power, power outage has been reported in the Encino/Valley Glen area.

Yesterday, Caltech seismologist Lucy Jones had shared that the area should expect aftershocks to continue for some time. Dr. Lucy Jones said there is a 50% chance of another large quake in the next week. She added that there is a 1 in 20 chance that a bigger earthquake will hit within the next few days.

Many people are worried about the possible Tsunami threat from this earthquake. Please note that the epicenter is located on the land. Also the U.S. Tsunami Warning System has confirmed that there is no Tsunami threat from this earthquake.

Ridgecrest has been rattled by more than 17 magnitude 4 quakes and at least 1,200 aftershocks since Thursday. More aftershocks are expected around the Ridgecrest area.
When Thursday’s quake hit, scientists had warned of even larger earthquake.

The current earthquake of magnitude 7.1 rattled Southern California, just a day after a magnitude 6.4 earthquake hit the same region. The USGS had confirmed the previous earthquake as the largest temblor in the region in two decades.
The earlier was identified as the largest quake to hit the area since 1999, when a 7.1 earthquake struck in a remote part of the Mojave desert. Now, the Magnitude 7.1 will set another record.
