May 22, 2018: At least six people died and hundreds of homes destroyed following heavy rainfall and flooding in Mogadishu, the capital city of Somali.
The flooding in Mogadishu destroyed at least 301 house with an estimated $35 million in losses, Anadolu Agency reported quoting Abdirahman Omar Osman Yarisow, the city’s mayor.
The rainfall was the heaviest Somalia has seen in over 30 years, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
