April 8, 2017: Four strong earthquakes, including one measuring magnitude 6, rattled Batangas province located in the Calabarzon region in Luzon, Philippines.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the first tremor of magnitude 5.6 struck at 3:07 p.m. with epicenter located two kilometers northwest of Mabini, Batangas. It was followed by magnitude 6 earthquake at 12 km northwest of Mabini, two minutes later.
Phivolcs recorded third earthquake with magnitude 4.1 at 3:29 p.m., while a magnitude 4.7 tremor struck at 4:36 p.m.
"The first two tremors generated Intensity VII in Mabini and Intensity VI in the municipalities of Calatagan, Nasugbu and Tingloy, all in Batangas," The Philippine Star reported quoting the Phivolcs.
