This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected.
At midnight, Severe Typhoon Sarika was estimated to be about 530 kilometres south-southwest of Hong Kong (near 18.0 degrees north 111.9 degrees east) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 15 kilometres per hour towards Hainan.
