An earthquake of magnitude 3.6 has been recorded in Koyna region of Maharashtra at 05:00 pm Saturday evening on May 21, 2016.
This is the fifth felt earthquake recorded in Koyna region in last four days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Government of India, the latest earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 3 km.
No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported.
The highest magnitude earthquake was 4.0 light quake on Thursday midnight.
Koyna region of Maharashtra is one of the most seismically active zone which lies in Zone IV of earthquake hazard zoning.

or near Koyna region since 20th Century. The strongest earthquake in
this region was magnitude 6.5 earthquake on December 11, 1967. The great
1967 Koynanagar earthquake claimed lives of at least 180 people.
