Atleast 70 earthquakes were recorded in the Yellowstone National Park (YNP) region in January, United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported in its monthly update quoting Yellowstone Volcano Observatory.
Two earthquake swarms were recorded in January 2016. A small swarm of 16 earthquakes occurred January 30 - 31 (MST) 5 miles south southwest of Lake, WY. Another smaller swarm of 10 earthquakes occurred January 25 - 27.
The alert level of Yellowstone volcano is “normal” and current aviation color code is “green.” Yellowstone National Park is the world's first national park located in the United States.
