  • Landslide in Santa Catarina Pinula, Guatemala
    -Massive landslide in Santa Catarina Pinula town of Guatemala has claimed lives of at least 26 people and left 600 others missing, emergency services said Friday.

  • M 5.8 strong earthquake in Chile (@ 41 km depth) with epicenter located 45km SSW of Coquimbo. Light shaking of MMI IV will have been felt by the people of Coquimbo, La Serena, Ovalle and Monte Patria. People of Vicuna, Illapel and Salamanca will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

    -Heavy rainfall caused flash flooding in 11 different places of Bangkok.
    -According to the Meteorological Department, tropical storm Mujigae will affect Thailand  from Sunday to Tuesday.

  • Mount Veniaminof volcano in Alaska Peninsula
    -An Alaska Peninsula volcano Mount Veniaminof  has prompted a new alert on Thursday.

Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Hurricane Joaquin
    -At 08:00 pm EDT, Hurricane Joaquin was located 40 km NNE of San Salvador, Bahamas.
    -National weather Service has forecast the core of the strongest winds of Joaquin to move away from the Bahamas later tonight.
    -Tropical storm conditions will affect portions of the southeastern Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands this evening.  Tropical storm conditions are possible in Bermuda on Sunday.
    -The South Carolina Emergency Management Division has also warned people to prepare for the storm.
    A Hurricane Warning is in effect for
    * Central Bahamas
    * Northwestern Bahamas including the Abacos, Berry Islands, Eleuthera, Grand Bahama Island, and New Providence
    * The Acklins, Crooked Island, and Mayaguana in the southeastern Bahamas
