As of October 23, 2015, Hurricane Patricia has became the strongest tropical cyclone ever recorded on Earth. Hurricane Patricia, the twenty-fourth named storm of the annual hurricane season, had the strongest ever recorded winds and the first to reach at or over 200 mph (325 km/h) sustained.

During the 24-hour period, Patricia rose from 85 mph category one to a 200 mph category five affecting Central America, Mexico and Texas.
Hurricane Patricia caused widespread flooding and mudslides across Central America. One person died in the Alta Verapaz Department.
At least four people died in El Salvador. Similarly, landslide in Nicagaragua killed one person.
Super Typhoon Haiyan had earlier name in the history of the strongest tropical cyclone by wind speed on Earth. Haiyan struck the Philippines with satellite-estimated, one-minute sustained winds of 195 mph.
