4.5 magnitude earthquake shakes Gangtok, Darjeeling

Magnitude 4.5 earthquake hit Sikkim at 07:18 am Saturday morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported.

The quake's epicenter was located 21 km ESE of Gangtok and Darjeeling. It was 9.3 miles deep.

Light to weak tremor have been reported from Gangtok and Darjeeling area. It was even felt in eastern part of neighboring Nepal.

Magnitude 3.0 earthquake shook Delhi-NCR region Friday night.

Magnitude 6.9 strong earthquake in 2011 was felt in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and southern Tibet which claimed lives of at least 111 people.
