Landslides triggered by heavy rains in Meghalaya, India have claimed lives of at least 12 people in the last four days.
A landslide hit the house killing four members of a family in Nakham Bazaar in Tura. Another person was killed in a separate landslide disaster in Akongre, NDTV reported.
Last night, three people died in a landslide in East Garo Hills. Landslide also collapsed a bridge in South Garo Hills.
Three days ago, a major landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in Jaintia hills region of Meghalaya killed four people and injured two others.
Meanwhile, the flood situation in Assam has worsen further. The Brahmaputra and Jia Bharali rivers have been flowing above the danger mark in some places in Assam.
Around 1,700 people have been living in 10 different disaster relief camps across Assam.
