A forest fire emergency has been declared in Lac La Ronge Indian Band after lightning strikes sparked around 25 forest fires in the area Saturday.

A Government of Saskatchewan spokesperson confirmed that lightning strikes caused around 25 forest fires in the area on Saturday.
"Wild Fire Management is monitoring all the fires burning and are currently concerned for the safety of Sikichew Lake and Clam Lake Bridge community members," Lac La Ronge Indian Band Chief Tammy Cook Searson said on her Facebook page.
