At least 30 people have been injured by flying debris in the district of Rostock Butzow. A hospital and a nursing home are among the damaged buildings, German newspaper Die Welt reported.
The railway line between Hamburg and Luebeck has been blocked in both directions by a fallen tree.
According to BBC, wind speeds of up to 119km/h (74mph) in Geilenkirchen north of Aachen.

One person died in the city of Hamburg by falling debris, The Guardian reported.
According to The Weather Channel, at least three tornadoes formed in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (MV), which borders Poland and the Baltic Sea.
Dozens of cars have been damaged and people have been injured. The extent of the tornado damage is still to come as emergency services are trying to assess the situation.
