How many lunar eclipses in 2015?
Altogether two. Today is the first lunar eclipse of the year and another total lunar eclipse will be on September 28, 2015. Total lunar eclipse in September will be the fourth and last in a tetrad, a series of four consecutive total lunar eclipses in 2014 – 2015. The first two eclipses of the tetrad took place on April 15, 2014 and October 8, 2014.
Why is it called blood moon eclipse?
Blood Moon is not a scientific term used by astronomers. According to Time and Date, the term blood moon has been frequently used to refer to total lunar eclipses. It may be because of the reddish color the eclipsed moon takes on during totality.
According to NASA, during an eclipse, the moon often looks reddish because sunlight has passed through Earth's atmosphere, which filters out most of its blue light. This eerie, harmless effect has earned the nickname "blood moon."
Is blood moon sign of end times?
Definitely not! Scientists and astronomers have not found a single reason to believe that the current blood moon lunar eclipse is a sign of the world to end. It's just a rare and shortest total lunar eclipse in a century. There were more than 200 earlier end of the world prediction which all went wrong. Still there are dozen future end of the world predictions.
Special about the 'Blood Moon' lunar eclipse 2015 is just one – totality will last only for 4 minutes and 43 seconds, making it the shortest total lunar eclipse of the 21st century! That's it! Enjoy watching
