Around 150 firefighters are battling wildfires in Cape Town region of South Africa which have burned at least five houses.
According to Independent Online, five homes have been destroyed along Silvermine in Noordhoek.
More than 50 people - residents of a retirement home - have been treated for smoke inhalation, BBC reported. Three mass care centres have been formed to those who have had to flee their homes.
"Helicopters scooped water from the Atlantic Ocean, and dumped it on elevated areas around Table Mountain National Park which fire trucks have not been able to reach," Dayton Daily News has written quoting emergency services spokeswoman Liezl Moodie.
The fire which started on Boyes Drive in Muizenberg on Sunday night, quickly spread to Ou Kaapse Weg, and reached Noordhoek in the early hours of Monday morning.
