Connecticut has been jolted by 12th earthquake in a week this Thursday. Connecticut earthquake today was measured 2.2 on Richter scale at 09:39 UTC, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
According
to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located just 1 km N of Moosup, Connecticut. It was 3.3 miles
deep.
Connecticut earthquake today is the sequence of every day earthquake for the last four days and 12 times since January 8. The magnitude varies from 0.4 to 3.3 on Richter scale. M 3.3 earthquake was recorded on January 12. At least six earthquake were recorded on that day.
"Moderate to large earthquakes are rare in New England, but as we have seen over the past week, Connecticut is not immune to earthquake activity," CBS News has written quoting the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection commissioner Dora B. Schriro.
No injuries or significant damage to property have been reported from these earthquakes.
According to the USGS, the most severe earthquake in Connecticut's history occurred at East Haddam on May 16, 1791.
