Government has disbursed Rs 149 crore for Jammu and Kashmir flood relief and rehabilitation till date, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir said in a meeting at winter Secretariat.
Chief Secretary, Muhammad Iqbal Khandey was briefed on the latest status from Divisional Commissioner Kashmir that till date Rs 149 crore have been disbursed as ex-gratia flood relief by the government in favour of all those families who were affected in the September floods, Greater Kashmir reported.
The Chief Secretary directed the Deputy Commissioners to speed up the Jammu and Kashmir flood relief and rehabilitation process and ensure that all flood affected families get flood relief on priority as per norms.
Heavy rainfall triggered flooding and landslides in India and the adjoining areas of Pakistan in September 2014. The regions of Jammu and Kashmir in India and Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Punjab in Pakistan were worst affected by the floods. The natural disaster claimed lives of 277 people in India and 280 people in Pakistan.
