M 4.8 strong earthquake shakes parts of Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
According
to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of Wichita KS earthquake today was located 13 km S of Conway Springs. It was 1.8 miles
deep.
"We have not received any reports of injury or damage but we are still gathering information," Reuters quoted the Sharon Watson, a spokeswoman for Kansas Emergency Management.
According to the USA Today, some structural damage has been reported, mostly in nearby Milan, Kansas, but no injuries. Similarly, KWCH 12 Eyewitness News has quoted Sumner County Emergency Manager, James Fair saying as there are few structures with foundation damage .
Wichita KS earthquake today is the largest quake since the 2011 Oklahoma M 5.6 quake within a 200 miles (320km) radius, Earthquake-Report has written. The strongest earthquake in Kansas history was a 5.1, recorded near Manhattan in 1867.
Wichita is the largest city in the State of Kansas.
