First autumn storm brings flooding in Netherlands

The first autumn storm of the year has caused flooding along the Wadden Sea in the Netherlands.

Some ferryboats services from and to the Wadden Sea islands have been cancelled due to the high water.

Streets flooding have been recorded at various locations in and around Rotterdam. Due to the high water, the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier and the Dutch IJssel barrier were closed on Tuesday night, Xinhua reported.

Wadden Sea lies between the coast of northwestern continental Europe and the range of Frisian Islands and has also been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List for its outstanding natural values.
