Earthquake in Jabalpur today

Mild earthquake in Jabalpur today has caused panic among residents.

Earthquake measuring 2.8 on Richter scale hit Jabalpur and adjoining areas in Madhya Pradesh, India on 22 October at around 10:45 am.

The epicenter of the earthquake was at Shahpura, about 40 km from Jabalpur, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Bhopal said.

Jabalpur earthquake today was well felt in Napier Town, Aadhartaal, Vijay Nagar, Gorakhpur, Panagar, Katangi, Sehora and Majhouli tehsils areas.

Jabalpur falls in the earthquake-prone Narmada-Sone fault zone in central India. The 1997 Jabalpur earthquake claimed lives of 39 people.
