M 4.7 moderate earthquake shakes Sweden today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
According
to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 39 km NNE of AElvdalen. It was 8.9 miles
deep.
The earthquake was also felt in the Pirkanmaa and Satakunta regions of south-western and central Finland, the Yle reported quoting the University of Helsinki’s Institute of Seismology.
This is what Yle Finland has reported mentioning Matti Tarvainen of the Institute of Seismology:
Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS) has issued white earthquake alert in Sweden and expects that this earthquake won't have humanitarian impact based on the magnitude and the affected population and their vulnerability.
The 2008 Skåne County earthquake with magnitude 4.3 had affected the southern part of Sweden and eastern parts of Denmark. If we follow the Swedish National Seismic Network magnitude (M 4.1), earthquake in Sweden today becomes the biggest quake since 16 December 2008!
No damage or injuries have been reported from earthquake in Sweden today.

This is what Yle Finland has reported mentioning Matti Tarvainen of the Institute of Seismology:
"A quake of this size has apparently never taken place in Finland, and according to current models would be impossible here"The Swedish National Seismic Network has assigned magnitude 4.1 for this earthquake and mentioned 'rare earthquake in Sweden' with such magnitude. Most of the earthquakes measured in the Swedish bedrock occurs along the coast of Norrland, in northern Sweden and in the Lake Vänern area.
