to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 6 km E of Orkney and 16 km SSE of Klerksdorp. It was 6.2 miles
deep.

According to the Johannesburg emergency service, the tremor was felt in most parts of the city. Earthquake was felt as far away as Mozambique and Botswana, Mail & Guardian Online mentioned.
