Earthquake in South Africa today, 6 km E of Orkney

M 5.3 strong shallow earthquake shakes South Africa today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 6 km E of Orkney and 16 km SSE of Klerksdorp. It was 6.2 miles deep.

Earthquake in South Africa today has claimed life of a person and injured 17 others, News 24 reported.

According to the Johannesburg emergency service,  the tremor was felt in most parts of the city. Earthquake was felt as far away as Mozambique and Botswana, Mail & Guardian Online mentioned.
