Afghanistan landslide 2014 kills 2,500, buries more than 300 homes

"According to the Governor of Badakhshan, more than 2,500 people have been killed and more than 300 homes are buried under rocks and mud due to a landslide in northern Badakhshan province."

Major landslide in Afghanistan has claimed lives of at least 350 people and left more than 2,000 people missing, USA Today reported quoting the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan.

Landslide occurred in Hobo Bank in Agro district in Badakhshan province of Afghanistan on Friday.

According to the Khaama Press (Afghan News Agency), Afghan secuirty forces and rescue teams have been deployed to the area to assist the local residents.

US President Barack Obama has offered condolence to victims of Badakhshan landslides.

According to the national disaster management authority, flash floods in northern Afghanistan had claimed lives more than 100 people five days ago.
