Tsho Rolpa glacial lake outburst flood just a rumor

Tsho Rolpa glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) rumor panicked the people of Dolakha and Ramechaap districts of Nepal Thursday night.

People of the Tamakoshi river banks in Dolakha, Ramechhap and Sindhuli were panicked due to the rumour of Tsho Rolpa glacial lake outburst flood, The Himalayan Times reported.

People of Manthali even ran away to safe places by reserving buses after the news of Tsho Rolpa glacial lake outburst flood.

People were much panicked when early warning alarms were heard. According to the local administration, alarms were heard after water level of Tamakoshi river increased and siren of the Khimti -1 hydropower project of Kirne in Dolakha was sounded. People believed it as the alarm for Tsho Rolpa glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF). There are several alarms joined in the area for early warning of Tsho Rolpa glacial lake status.

Tsho Rolpa (also Chho Rolpa) is one of the biggest and most dangerous glacial lakes located in the Rolwaling Valley, about 110 kilometres northeast of Kathmandu, Nepal.
