Typhoon Soulik claims 2, injures 104

Death toll from Typhoon Soulik has risen to two with more than 104 injured. One person is still reported to be missing.
Typhoon Soulik has made landfall in Fujian Province of China. Soulik made landfall on the Huangqi Peninsula in Lianjiang County at 4 p.m.

Typhoon Soulik in Taiwan has claimed life of at least one people and injured 21 others, disaster emergency center said.

Disaster emergency center has identified the person as a 50 year old policeman from Taipei. 

The Central Emergency Operation Centre has already moved more than eight thousand people from their homes.

All schools and offices in Taiwan are closed today and Several Airlines including Cathay Pacific and China Airlines have cancelled their flights to Taiwan.

Taiwan authorities are distributing water pumps and sandbags to prevent flooding in low-lying areas.

Typhoon Soulik made landfall in Taiwan at around 03:00 on Saturday morning.

Similarly China Marine Environmental Forecasting Center has issues red wave warning over Typhoon Soulik. Typhoon Soulik is expected to create waves up to 9 meters high in the Taiwan Strait, 4 to 6 meters in Zhejiang and Fujian provinces of China.

According to the Xinhua who has quoted provincial flood control headquarters, Zhejiang has issued a Level-II emergency response regarding Soulik.

The National Health and Family Planning Commission has already issued a circular calling for emergency health measures in natural disasters to prevent post-disaster epidemics.

About 1,200 soldiers are ready for possible disaster relief jobs.

Soulik is the first typhoon to hit Taiwan this year.
