NC Flooding 2013: 2 killed in Charlotte flooding

NC Flooding 2013 has claimed lives of at least two people.

Rain-swollen Wilson Creek swept away two including a 10-year-old girl. NC Creek is located nearly 100 miles north of Charlotte.

Flood damage assessment teams have found seven homes and three businesses with major damage. But there are reports of damage to 130 homes and other buildings.

A state of emergency has been declared due to widespread flooding in Catawba County, Hickory and Newton.

Emergency shelter was opened at the Newton Recreation Center after Catawba County Emergency Management requested the American Red Cross.

Earlier too NC Flooding 2013 caused damage in the Asheville area in May.
