Bangladesh flash floods affect nearly 10,000

Flash floods triggered by the heavy downpour affected nearly 10,000 people across Bangladesh, The Daily Star reported.

Flood waters have submerged 35 villages in Dinajpur due to overflow of Punarbhaba, Atrai and Kakra rivers.

According to an official of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Dinajpur, flood waters have damaged at least 10,000 hectares of cropland.

Bangladesh is prone to the natural disaster of flooding as it is situated on the Ganges Delta and 75% of Bangladesh is less than 10 m above sea level (Wikipedia).
