Landslide hits Solukhumbu, Nepal

A landslide has hit Baku VDC of Solukhumbu district of Nepal and displaced members of at least ten houses.

Displaced people have been taking shelter at their relatives' homes. No injury has been reported.

At least five people died in Solukhumbu landslide in August 2011.

A Desinventer data base prepared by UNOCHA, UNDP, NSET from 1971-2008 has assigned 0.22 % score value for landslide in Solukhumbu district. Solukhumbu lies in 23rd number out of 75 district in Nepal in landslide vulnerability. 

Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world is located in the northern part of Solukhumbu district.
