Recent Natural Disasters

• Avalanche in Mount Saipal, Nepal
  -At least seven people are reported to be missing in an avalanche in the Mount Saipal region of far-western Nepal.
  -Avalanche disaster hit yarsagumba collectors group of nine people in Mt Saipal. Two people however survived and reported about the tragedy to locals of Kanda VDC. Click for detail report on Mt Saipal avalanche.
• Tornado in Athens, Alabama
  -At least two EF-0 tornadoes touched down in the Athens and Elkmont areas.
  -One person sustained minor injuries while running for tornado shelter near Walmart on U.S. Highway 72 in Athens.
  -Wind storm damage was reported at strip mall and Zaxby’s restaurant. Roof damage was also reported at Walmart on U.S. Highway 72. Click for detail report on Alabama tornado.

Recent Earthquakes 

• M 4.8 moderate shallow earthquake in Barbuda (@ 12 km depth) with epicenter located 30km SW of Codrington. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Saint John's (Antigua and Barbuda), Basseterre (Saint Kitts and Nevis), Sainte-Rose and Lamentin (Guadeloupe).

• M 4.3 light shallow earthquake in California (@ 19 km depth) with epicenter located 29km SW of Rio Dell. People of Ferndale, Rio Dell, Fortuna, Hydesville, Humboldt Hill, Redway, Eureka, Myrtletown, McKinleyville, Bayside and Arcata will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

• M 5.6 strong earthquake in Iran (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 88km SE of Minab. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Minab, Bandar 'Abbas, Qeshm, Dib Dibba, Khasab, Ra's al Khaymah, Al Fujayrah, Diba, Adh Dhayd and Khawr Fakkan . • M 6.0 strong earthquake in Japan (@ 34 km depth) with epicenter located 52km NE of Namie. Moderate to light shaking will have felt by the people of Namie, Kakuda, Yamoto, Okawara, Iwanuma, Ishinomaki and Sendai-shi. People of Saitama, Tokyo, Chiba-shi and Yokohama-shi will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.
