Myanmar landslide claims 16

Landslide in Myanmar's Kalaw township has claimed lives of at least sixteen people, ABC News says quoting an emergency and disaster management officer for Myanmar’s Red Cross.

Landslide disaster occurred in Nyaung Kone and Taung Palt villages in Shwe Twin Kone village at about 1 am after heavy rain. Landslide injured several people (number unknown?) and are having treatment at Kalaw hospital.

Storm in Monywa district damaged several houses but exact number is unknown as damage assessment is underway, The Myanmar Times reports.

Flash floods in Kalaw, Myanmar also destroyed 50 houses.

Bad weather and thunderstorms are forecast till May 5 in Upper Myanmar.
