Moscow earthquake: First tremor in 35 years!

Russia's capital Moscow experienced its first tremor from an earthquake in 35 years today March 24, 2013.

Tremor in Moscow was generated from magnitude 8.3 earthquake in Sea of Okhotsk.

Russian emergency authorities had issued a tsunami warning for Sakhalin and the Kurile islands but was lifted several minutes later.

At least 850 people were evacuated from buildings in Moscow. The Agency of Hydrometeorological and Environmental monitoring said very weak tremor with MMI I was felt in Moscow.

Tremors in Moscow are rare. Last earthquake in Moscow was on March 4, 1977 of 4.0-magnitude quake centered in the Carpathian Mountains.

Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has opened a hotline number +7(495) 637-2222 regarding the earthquake in Moscow.
