M 4.2 light earthquake shakes Southern Idaho today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of earthquake in Idaho today was located 28 km W of Soda Springs and 49 km SE of Pocatello, Idaho. It was 7.0 miles deep.
Following USGS Pager Map, weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Soda Springs, Chubbuck, Bancroft, Downey, Grace, Lava Hot Springs, McCammon, Clarkston, Preston, Pocatello, Fort Hall, Paris, Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, Ammon, Logan and Brigham City.

Idaho sits on the western edge of the North American plate and most of the earthquakes in Idaho today are a result of Basin and Range extension and volcanism associated with the Yellowstone Hot Spot.
Idaho earthquake in 1983 of magnitude 7.3 is the largest ever recorded earthquake in Idaho. Earthquake damage was $12.5 million in the Challis-Mackay area with two fatalities in Challis, about 200 kilometers northeast of Boise.

I felt a mild earth quake in Eagle about 6-7 minutes ago!

ردحذفI live in Emmett Idaho and I felt it between 1030 ish and 11, I didn't know what to think, it was light but it sure shook my bunk bed two times, scary feeling. My first thought was black canyon dam is going to break.
