Recent Natural Disasters
  • Flooding in Luanda, Angola
    -Floods in
    Luanda, Angola have killed at least nine people. Four people are still reported to be missing.
    -Floods have damaged more than 500 homes in Samba and Coreia arfea only.
    -A road near Luanda's port has been closed due to landslide.
    -The 2009 Angola, Namibia and Zambia floods killed 131 people and caused damage of at least $5 million.


Recent Earthquakes 
  • M 3.2 light shallow earthquake in Slovenia (@ 13 km depth) with epicenter located just 2 km NNE of Moravce. It will have well felt by the people of Ljubljana, Mengeš, Kamnik, Domzale and Trbovlje.

  • M 3.5 light shallow earthquake in Puget Sound Region, Washington (@ 20 km depth) with epicenter located 6 km SE from Allyn-Grapeview. It will have well felt by the people of Port Orchard, Steilacoom, Artondale, Gig Harbor, Tacoma and Seattle.

  • M 3.4 light shallow earthquake in France (@ 2 km depth) with epicenter located just 1 km SSW of Poisy. It will have well felt by the people of Cran-Gevrier, Seynod and Annecy.

  • M 5.3 moderate earthquake in Crete, Greece (@ 35 km depth) with epicenter located 53 km SE of Palaiochora. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Rethymnon, Chania, Irakleion, Kalívai, Khanía, Réthimnon and Timbákion.

  • M 7.0 massive earthquake in Papua, Indonesia (@ 68 km depth) with epicenter located 238 km E of Enarotali. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Abepura, Nabire, Jayapura, Vanimo, Biak, Insrom and Kiunga. Jayapura is a populated area but at a safe distance from the epicenter. No Tsunami warning issued.

Afghanistan (Amu Darya), Angola (Cotundo), Australia, Bolivia, Botswana (Selinda), Brazil (Rio Juruena, Araquaia, Purus, Tocantins), China (Mekong, Xi Jiang, Brahmaputra, Yangtze, Indus), Colombia (Rio Negro), Honduras, Iraq (Shatt al Arab), Kenya, Mozambique (Chire), Pakistan (Indus), Peru (Ucayali, Rio Maraon), Philippines, Sudan (Blue Nile), United States (Mississippi, Arkansas), Vietnam, Zambia (Zambezi, Likando).

  • Flooding in coal mine in Guizhou Province of China
    -Two dead and seven people are reported to be missing in coal mine flooding in Guizhou Province of China.
  • Flash floods and landslide in Penang, Malaysia
    -
    Heavy rainfall caused flooding and landslide in Penang, Malaysia.
    -About 168mm rainfall has been recorded within three hours.


Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Reventador, Etna, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Erta Ale, Barren Island, Raung, Paluweh, Gamalama, Sakurajima, Kakar, Tinakula, Yasur, Tolbachik and Kilauea.


Recent Tropical Cyclones
There is no tropical storm activity for today.
