More than 500 earthquakes have been recorded in last two days in Iceland. Most of the recent earthquakes in Iceland in Grimsey area have magnitude more than 3.
Icelandic authorities have already warned the people of Iceland to prepare for a possible big earthquake.
M 5.3 moderate earthquake shakes Iceland region today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 48 km NNW of Husavik and 89 km NNE of Akureyri. It was 6.2 miles deep.
About 26,000 people are living within 100 km radius.
Looking magnitude and depth, earthquake in Iceland today will have well felt by the people of Husavik, and Akureyri.
The 2008 Iceland earthquake injured 30 people. Magnitude 6.3 earthquake had its epicenter located 45 kilometers east-southeast of the capital, Reykjavík.
