Lushan, Sichuan earthquake 2013 kills 186

M 6.6 deadly earthquake hits Western Sichuan, China on April 20, 2013, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 52 km WSW of Linqiong and 97 km ENE of Kangding. It was 7.6 miles deep.

Earthquake that struck in Lushan county, near the city of Ya'an in the southwestern province of Sichuan has killed at least 186 people till 12:00 UTC, April 21, 2013.

Most of the deaths occurred in Lushan. At least 21 people are still reported to be missing in Lushan earthquake. Earthquake has injured around 11,492 people.

Following Xinhua News Agency, 18,000 troops were in the area to help with rescue efforts.

Sichuan is one of the four major natural gas-producing provinces in China.
