Flooding in Helmand, Afghanistan

Flooding in Helmand region of Afghanistan has damaged several houses and caused huge financial losses.

Heavy rainfall caused flash flooding in Sangin, Kajaki, Greskh, Marja, Nad Ali and Nawa districts of Afghanistan, Pajhwok Afghan News mentions.

Floods and strong winds have destroyed more than one thousand homes in Nad Ali alone.

Around 200 families displaced by recent flood in Helmand are living in temporary refuge in Lashkargah city, the capital of Helmand province along with 1200 other families. Most of the people in refuge center are who flee their villages due to ongoing fighting.

According to Helmand Natural Disaster Management, investigative teams have been send to assess the flood damage. Disaster relief teams will then help in relief supplies.
