Snow emergency in Kyiv, Ukraine

A snow emergency has been declared due to heavy snowfall in Kyiv. Around 20 inches of snow in a 24-hour period.

A snow emergency has been declared due to record snowfall in Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine. Kyiv received 20 inches of snow in a 24-hour period. This single day snow is what Kyiv usually receives per month during this season.

Boryspil International Airport, Ukraine's largest airport, located 29 km east of Kyiv has been working with delays. Zhulyany airport is however closed.

In December 2012, a snow emergency was declared in Western Ukraine. Snowstorm claimed several lives.

  1. It is an awful situation in Kiev and Kiev regions. A lot of cars were in traffic-jams during the whole night from 22 Jan till 23 Jan 2013. Public transports did not work during yesterday except of metro.
