Recent Natural Disasters 

• Landslide in southern Colombia
  -At least seven injured and some 20 others are reported to be missing in a landslide in southern Colombia.
  -Injured people are having treatment at University Hospital of Neiva.
  -A search-and-rescue operation is afffected due to bad weather condition (Photo: EPA).
  Update
  -Bodies of five victims have been discovered. At least 20 people are still expected to be buried under the debris.
  -Landslide occurred on the road between the cities of Neiva and San Vicente del Caguán to the south-west of the capital of Colombia.

• M 4.7 moderate earthquake in Pyreness (@ 2 km depth) with epicenter located just 1 km E Mirepeix. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of  Lourdes,  Pamplona and Barcelona.

• M 5.2 moderate earthquake in Central Peru (@ 42 km depth) with epicenter located 112 km ENE of Pisac. People of Cusco, Sicuani and Santa Ana will have felt just a weak shaking of MMI II-III.

• M 4.7 moderate shallow earthquake in Taiwan (@ 4 km depth) with epicenter located 36 km SSE of Lugu. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Douliu, Jiayi Shi, Buli, Changhwa, Taichung and Tainan.

• M 4.3 light earthquake in India-Bangladesh border region (@ 31 km depth) with epicenter located just 9 km NE of Kamalpur. It will have well felt by the people of Kailashahar, Moulvi Bazar and Dharmanagar.

Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Afghanistan (Amu Darya), Australia (Darling), Bolivia (Madre de Dios), Brazil (Tocantins), Chad (N Djamena), China (Mekong and Huang He), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ubangi), Dominican Republic, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq (Shatt al Arab and Tigris), Kenya (Tana), Philippines, Sudan (Blue Nile, White Nile), Syria (Euphrates), Tanzania.

• Flooding in central Greece
  -One person reported to be killed in rainstorm in Vathylakos of Karditsa in central Greece.
  -Due to overflow of Sperchios river, over 4 million square meters have flooded near Lamia, in central Greece.
  -Around 200 roma people are living in evacuation center. A river has also overflown at Kalamos, north of Athens.

• Wildfire in Pueblo city, Colorado
  -A wildfire burned 70 acres in Pueblo County, Colorado, United States.
  -The fire is burnng between Lake Minnequa and Pueblo Boulevard.
• A state of calamity has been declared in 11 towns of Capiz, Philippines that suffered from flooding due to Typhoon Quinta. Calamities declared towns are Panay, Pontevedra, Panitan, Maayon, Sigma, Mambusao, Dumarao, Dumalag, Tapaz, Cuartero and Dao.
• Recent research by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has predicted massive earthquakes of the magnitude 8 to 8.5 in the Himalayan region of India. Team research by scientists in India, Nepal and France was published recently in Nature Geosciences.
