Did you feel it? - Report an Earthquake
  • M 4.0 light shallow earthquake in Southern California (@ 1 km depth) with epicenter located 20 km SWfrom Ocotillo Wellsuyu. Weak shaking of MMI II will have felt by the people of Borrego Springs, Sedco Hills, Temecula, Escondido, Pine Valley, Canyon Lake, Murrieta, Seeley, Tijuana, Mexicali, Oceanside, Chula Vista and San Diego.

  • M 5.5 strong deep earthquake in Myanmar (@ 127 km depth) with epicenter located 52 km NW from Monywa. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Monywa, Shwebo, Myingyan, Pakokku and Sagaing. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Mandalay, Maymyo, Chauk, Meiktila, Haka, Mogok, Assam (India) and Dhaka (Bangladesh).

    Tremor was even felt in Chittagong, Khagrachari and Narayanganj area of Bangladesh, Calcutta (Bangla), Gangtok (Sikkim) and Arunachal Pradesh of India and Yangon in Burma.

    Abhijit Pegoo from Guwahati: Felt moderate tremor at 10:30 pm on 22/12/2012 for about 5 to 10 seconds. 
  • M 4.6 moderate earthquake in Shikoku, Japan (@ 66 km depth) with epicenter located 36 km E of Kunisaki-shi. It will have well felt by the people of Ozu, Yanai, Hikari, Iwakuni-shi and Onomichi.

  • M 4.2 light shallow earthquake in Catamarca, Argentina (@ 20 km depth) with epicenter located 46 km NE of Antofagasta de la Sierra. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Cafayate, Salta and Belen.

  • M 4.9 moderate earthquake in Sulawesi, Indonesia (@ 35 km depth) with epicenter located 26 km NW of Walenrang. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Rantepao, Polewali and Mamuju.

Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Afghanistan (Amu Darya), Australia (Darling), Bolivia (Madre de Dios), Brazil (Tocantins), Chad (N Djamena), China (Mekong and Huang He), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ubangi), Dominican Republic, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq (Shatt al Arab and Tigris), Kenya (Tana), Philippines, Sudan (Blue Nile, White Nile), Syria (Euphrates), Tanzania.
  • Roads in Cambs, including roads Earith and Fenstanton, England closed due to flooding.


Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Santiago, Poas, Reventador, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Raung, Erta Ale, Paluweh, Gamalama, Batu Tara, Sakurajima, Manam, Ulawun, Tolbachik and Kilauea volcano.
  • Indonesia/Mount Rokatenda recent volcanic activity
    -Thousands of people evacuated from Palue Islands in Sikka, East Nusa Tenggara due to volcanic eruption at Mt. Rokatenda.
    -People have evacuated to Maumere, Sikka, Ropa and Ende.
    -Many water sources are reported to be contaminated with volcanic ashes.

  • Argentina and Chile borderline/Copahue recent volcanic activity
    -Ash fall reported from Copahue volcano in Loncopue village in Argentina. Village is 50 km SE of the volcano.
    -The alert level for Copahue volcano has been raised from Green to Orange.
    -Copahue last had an eruption in 2000.

    -Wildfire is burning south of U.S. 290 and west of the Texas 45 toll road.
    -The region is under a fire danger because of the extremely dry conditions.
  • Officials in Azerbaijan claims that earthquake prediction will be possible in the first half of the next year. several stations will be able to detect the earthquake 20 hour earlier and relay exactly in which region earthquake will occur.
