  • Flooding in England
    -Heavy rain causes floods in Midlands and South West of England.
    -The Environment Agency has issued 74 flood warnings in the South West and the Midlands and 113 flood alerts across the rest of the country.
    -The villages of Yealmpton and Tamerton Foliot in Devon are worst hit.
    -Schools have been closed in Worcestershire, Devon and Gloucestershire.
    -Flooding at Tiverton Parkway and Birmingham New Street disrupted rail services in Gloucester, Bristol Temple Meads, Taunton, Yeovil, Exeter, Birmingham International, Coventry, Great Malvern and Hereford.
    -Bus services in both Bristol and Somerset were also either cancelled or diverted.
    -Heavy rainfall caused flooding around Rugby area. Two people were injured in Pailton.
    -Following Warwickshire Police, Lawford road near Church Lawford has completely flooded.
    -Mudslide also reported in Barby Lane near Rugby.
    -2007 United Kingdom floods killed 13 people and caused damage of about £6 billion.

  • M 4.9 moderate earthquake in Taiwan region (@ 22 km depth) with epicenter located 74 km E of Hualian. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Su'ao, Yilan and Buli.

  • M 5.9 strong shallow earthquake Offshore Libertador O'higgins, Chile (@ 16 km depth) with epicenter located 54 km SW of San Antonio. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Santa Cruz, Melipilla, San Vicente, El Monte, Talagante, Penaflor, Rancagua and vina causino. People of Talca, Las Condes, Talca and Santiago will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

    Update
    -Universidad de Chile reports earthquake of magnitude 6.1 at 1 km depth.
    -Buildings swayed in Santiago and some people fled to the streets in fear.
    -Multiple moderate aftershocks have been recorded in Chile, start of earthquake swarm!
  • M 3.1 weak shallow earthquake in Lebanon-Syria region (@ 9 km depth) with epicenter located  8 km S Talkalah. Weak shaking will have felt even by the people of Tarabulus aš-Šam.

  • M 4.7 moderate deep earthquake in Sumbawa Region, Indonesia (@ 129 km depth) with epicenter located 13 km SSW of Tolotangga. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Bima, Sumbawa Besar and Labuhanbajo.

  • M 4.6 moderate shallow earthquake in Oaxaca, Mexico (@ 14 km depth) with epicenter located 31 km SSE from Ometepec. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Pinotepa Nacional, Cacahuatepec, Tlaxiaco, Chilpancingo and Acapulco.

Recent Flash Floods
Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Afghanistan (Amu Darya), Australia (Darling), Brazil (Rio Paranaiba, Juruena, Purus and Tocantins), Chad (N Djamena), China (Mekong and Huang He), Colombia (Putamayo and Rio Negro), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ubangi), Guatemala, Indonesia, Iraq (Euphrates and Tigris), Kenya (Bohoni and Turo), Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Sudan (Blue Nile), Taiwan, Tanzania (Mwanza Shinyango road), Uganda (White Nile) and United States (Rio Grande, North America).
  • Flooding in Mindanao, Philippines
    -Two killed and around 2,074 displaced in Mindanao floods. Two people were killed when they were swept away by floodwaters as Bitaugan River burst its banks.
    -Recent flooding affected at least eight municipalities in Davao del Norte, Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental. Flooding was also reported in the town of Governor Generoso.
    -Landslide also displaced several people in Tuburan village, in Mawab town. Some roads in Prosperidad town were also flooded.
    -Yesterday the state weather bureau had warned of possible flashfloods and landslides in South Cotabato and the regions of Eastern Visayas, Davao and Zamboanga Peninsula.

  • Flash flood in Bahrain
    -Heavy rainfall caused flooding in Isa Town, Sanabis, Manama and Riffa region of Bahrain.
    -Thirty accidents were reported within two hours as Bahrain roads flooded.


Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Propocatepetl, Fuego, Reventador, Villarrica, Stromboli, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Erta Ale, Marapi, Semeru, Paluweh, Gamalama, Lokon-Empung, Sakurajima, Ulawun, Yasur, Ambrym, Kizimen, Shiveluch and Kilauea volcano. 
  • New Zealand/Mount Tongariro recent volcanic activity
    -Mount Tongariro volcano of New Zealand has erupted with a 2km-high ash plume seen in the sky.
    -Around 50 people were evacuated from the Tongariro Crossing track.
    -Air New Zealand flights between Taupo and Wellington have been cancelled because of the volcanic activity.

Recent Tropical Cyclones
There are no tropical storm activity today.

    -Heavy snowstorm reported across Kananaskis Country.
    -An avalanche warning has been issued for Kananaskis Country. Both natural and human-triggered avalanches are likely.
