Following USGS, tremor was felt across Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama.

USGS has updated Eastern Kentucky earthquake - depth now calculated at 18km or 11mi. 2 Mi NE of Vicco, KY.

One of our visitor from Cincinnati Ohio writes, "We were driving in our vehicle and the water bottle sitting on the floor under my leg had strange ripples going through it, so much so that I thought an animal was in the car and had rubbed against my leg!! This was at about 12:40 pm. Initially I just thought it was really bizarre because we had not hit any bumps or unevenness in the road to cause the movement, then after getting home we saw an earthquake had hit the KY area a little while before our incident."

Magnitude 5.2 earthquake in  Kentucky in 1980 is the strongest in the history of Kentucky. It was felt over all or parts of 15 States and in Ontario, Canada. Damage occurred in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio.

Most of the temblors in Kentucky in past have occurred in the western portion of the state, near the New Madrid seismic zone.

Following USGS PAGER MAP, Moderate shaking of MMI V will have felt by the people of Whitesburg and Cumberland. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Hazard, Appalachia, Wheelwright and Jenkins. People of Kingsport, Johnson City, Knoxville, Lexington-Fayette and Lexington will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

Earthquake in Kentucky was felt as far away as Cincinnati, Ohio, and Atlanta, Georgia.

The epicenter of this quake is in the Appalachian Mountains near the Virginia border. Note that earthquakes in the coal-mining region of Kentucky are rare.

Tremor was well felt in Kentucky, Tennessee and North Carolina.

M 4.3 moderate earthquake shakes Eastern Kentucky, USA today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 13 km (8 miles) W of Whitesburg and 92 km (57 miles) NW of Bristol, Tennessee. It was 0.7 miles deep.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
