  • Flooding in Behshahr, Iran
    -At least 12 people are dead or missing in Behshahr flood.
    -Heavy rainfall caused flood disaster in large sections of Mazandaran province in northern Iran.
    -Following Red Crescent officials, 16 rescue teams are currently engaged in rescue and relief efforts across the flooded region.
    -Great Iran Flood in 1954 killed around 10,000 people.
    -Floods are among the most frequent and costly natural disasters. As much as 90 % of the damage related to all natural disasters (excluding droughts) is caused by floods.

  • M 5.3 moderate shallow earthquake in Georgia (sak'art'velo) with epicenter located 10 km E of Lagodekhi. Tremors will have felt in Lagodekhi district (Tbilisi, Kakheti region, East Georgia) bordering with Azerbaijan.

    -Rafael is forecast to become a hurricane by Monday.

    -Heavy rainfall caused flooding in Basseterre, St. Kitts.
    -Areas of both St. Kitts and Nevis are without power.
  • Tropical Storm Paul
    -As of 15:00 UTC, TS Paul was located 1055 km SSW of the southern tip of Baja California.
    - Paul is moving toward the west-northwest near 9 mph. No threat to land.
  • Typhoon Prapiroon
    -As of 15:00 UTC, Typhoon Prapiroon was located 295 nm southeast of Kadena air base, Okinawa, Japan.
  • Tropical Storm Maria
    -As of 15:00 UTC, TS Maria was located 425 nm south of iwoto, Japan.
