  • Flooding in Dagestan region of Russia
    -Seven killed in flooding disaster in the southern Russian province of Dagestan.
    -Floods also destroyed 320 homes in the Caspian Sea coastal city of Derbent close to the Caucasus Mountains.
    -A state of emergency is declared. Flood in Dagestan  affected more than 1,000 people including 280 children.
    -Over 300 emergency workers are working at the flooded zone. Two Emergencies Ministry planes have arrived from Moscow to Derbent with rescuers and equipment.

  • M 5.3 moderate earthquake in Costa Rica (@ 36 km depth) with epicenter located 14 km NNE of Nicoya. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Nicoya, Hojancha, Santa Cruz, Belen, Nandayure and Bagaces. People of San Jose, Granada, Masaya, Tipitapa and Managua will have felt weak shaking of MMI II-III.

  • M 4.5 moderate shallow earthquake in Northern Algeria (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 17 km NE of Arhribs. It will have well felt by the people of Azazga, Timizart and Freha.

    -As of 15:00 UTC, Typhoon Prapiroon was located 470 nm south-southeast of Kadena air base, Okinawa, Japan.
    -Typhoon Prapiroon is the twenty-second tropical cyclone of the western North Pacific Ocean.
