Dipal Adhikari from Doimukh, Arunachal Pradesh, India writes:
"It happened after the midnight, i.e on 3rd October, 2012. There were 3 tremors in total. The first one was really strong and powerful. Everything was shaking heavily as if everything will be collapsed soon. It lasted for 3-4 seconds. The 2nd one came after 5 mins but it was not as strong as the first one, and so was the 3rd one, which lasted maximum for a second. It was the least powerful. Overall there was a lot of panic all around. Still waiting for anymore shocks. Can't sleep!"
Riya bhattacharyya from Numaligarh, Assam writes:
"There was a sudden grinding sound and everything started shaking. The bottles fell , chairs sliding , bed shaking , and the wooden almirahs were drooling from one side to the other . It was a situation of panic : quite tough to open the door as getting a grip over the latch was also seeming difficult. Though no reports of causality , impact of trauma is worth remembering."
Murali Krishna from Nirjuli, Itanagar writes:"It was around 12:30 AM and I was about to sleep. I felt like some one was hitting my door so forcibly. And then I felt that the table and bed were shaking. I immediately ran out of the hostel and there was a lot of panic around. We we experienced several tremors. The 1st one was very strong. I personally felt the wave strength would have been between 4.5 to 5 on ritcher scale. The other 3 waves hit the place within 15 mins span but were of lesser intensity."

"Tremors lasted 3-4 seconds. I felt my bed and a table shaking. Weaker but longer duration tremors followed the first earthquake after about ten minutes."
Dr. Somya Misra Guwahati, Assam writes:
"I experienced a light shaking earthquake in Guwahati followed by aftershocks shortly after. It was not a heavy one , nevertheless enough to wake us up from sleep in our apartment. Both the times, it was not a sudden jolt but more of a lingering one...I hope and pray that everyone is fine and no casualties have occurred."
Raju kumar from Guhawati writes:
"It was a swing shake which lasted for long, and after tremors were felt for quite a long time in Guwahati, Assam."
Anirban hazarika from Udalguri writes:
"It is great experience, I feel 4 times shaking.. Scary!"

Quake in Assam was followed with several aftershocks. Though quake was well felt in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, this earthquake has no potential to cause any major damage!

The nearest populated places are Major Chuk (18km), Itakhola (18km), Rangapara North (6km). It is a mountainous region with a maximum altitude of 4834 m.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 38 km NE Rangapara uake's epicenter was located 38 km NE Rangapara. Tremors will have well felt in Assam. Click for list of recent earthquakes in India.

We just woke up... again felt another jolt immediately..

ردحذفmyself and my wife discussion the family matters approx.. around 12:40 am on 03.10.2012, suddenly, shake the earth movements are we find and at the time alert to watch situations from corner to out side the home . really we are shocked and half on hour onwards we have to jeep the hearts in hand.
