This is what Bloomberg.com writes:
"Sandy may combine with a second storm coming out of the Midwest to create a system that would rival the New England hurricane of 1938 in intensity, said Paul Kocin, a National Weather Service meteorologist in College Park, Maryland."
If current forecasts are correct, Sandy will be worst storm in 100 Years seen for Northeast U.S.

Update October 26, 16:30 UTC
-States of emergency declared in Virginia, Maryland in advance of Hurricane Sandy.
-Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley is urging all Maryland residents to prepare for extreme weather.
-Currently tropical storm/hurricane watches and warnings cover Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, and parts of the Bahamas.

-Hurricane Sandy killed 21 people in the Caribbean, including 11 people in eastern Cuba. Sandy affected parts of Jamaica, Cuba, the Bahamas and Haiti. Nine people died in Santiago and two others in Guantanam.
-Sandy destroyed more than 3,000 homes in Cuba and caused power outages and minor flooding in Bahamas.
-In Bahamas, Several Schools, government offices, airports and bridges are closed today too.
-All schools in Palm Beach, Miami-Dade and Broward of Florida are closed for the rest of the week.
-International airports in Jamaica Island were closed and police ordered 48-hour curfews in major towns.
-More than 20 shelters were opened on the main island of New Providence of Bahamas.
-At 2100 GMT, the eye of the hurricane sandy was near Cat Island in the Central Bahamas, about 60 miles southeast of Eleuthera according to National Hurricane Center.
-Hurricane Sandy is forecast to mix with a winter storm to create a monster storm in the eastern U.S. next week and will affect the entire Atlantic Coast from Florida to Maine and inland to Ohio. Forecasters predict this ‘Frankenstorm’ Hurricane (Frankenstorm is a hybrid storm which is a combination of high wind, heavy rain, extreme tides and maybe snow ) to hit U.S. will be worse than the 1991 ‘Perfect Storm’ (also known as the Halloween Nor'easter of 1991 which killed 13; direct).
-It is believed to be the deadliest storm in Cuba since July 2005, when category 5 Hurricane Dennis killed 16 people and caused $2.4 billion in damage (Photo CNN: A U.N. peacekeeper standing at the edge of a bridge that was washed away by heavy rains from Hurricane Sandy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti).
