Did you feel it? - Report an Earthquake
  • M 5.6 strong harmless sea quake in South of Java, Indonesia (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 242 km S of Sidorukun. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Kuta and Denpasar.
    16:32 UTC (local time Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 12:32 AM @ epicenter)
  • M 4.6 moderate earthquake in Western Uzbekistan (@ 24 km depth) with epicenter located 27 km N of Gazli. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Romiton, Shofirkon and Karakul.
    05:52 UTC (local time Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 10:52:12 AM at epicenter)
  • M 4.7 moderate shallow earthquake Offshore Maule, Chile (@ 24 km depth) with epicenter located 79 km NNW of Constitucion. Just a weak shaking will have felt by the people of Santa Cruz, Talca and San Javier.

Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Argentina, Australia (Darling), Brazil (Rio Paranaiba, Madeira and Tocantins), Cameroon (Benue), Chad, China (Mekong and Huang He), Colombia (Magdelena), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ubangi), Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya (Ahero Bridge), Laos (Mekong), Madagascar, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nigeria (Benue), Paraguay (Parana), Panama, Peru (Ucayali), Senegal, United States (Colorado and Ohio) and Venezuela (Orinoco).


Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Reventador, Villarrica, Stromboli, Erta Ale, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Sakurajima, Dukono, Semeru, Batu Tara, Manam, Ulawun, Kizimen, Karymsky and Kilauea volcano.
  • Vanuatu/Mount Yasur recent volcanic activity
    -Strong volcanic activity recorded at Yasur volcano on Tanna Island in Vanuatu.
    -Ash and rock falls expected around the mountain. Warning level raised to two.
  • Canary Islands (Spain)/El Hierro recent volcanic activity
    -New seismic swarm with more than 50 quakes recorded in last 12 hours.
    -Most of the quakes with minor magnitudes (<2) are located in the central part of the island.
    -The frequency of quakes dramatically increased two days ago too.


Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Hurricane Nadine
    -As of 03:00 UTC, Hurricane Nadine was located 1170 km E of Bermuda and 2530 km WSW of the Azores.
    - Nadine is a category one hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale and currently moving toward the north-northeast near 14 mph. No threat to land.
  • Tropical Storm Kristy
    -As of 03:00 UTC, TS Kristy was located 445 km WSW of the southern tip of Baja California.
    -Kristy is moving toward the northwest near 9 mph and slowly weakening.
    -Surf and rip current possible in portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico and southern Baja California during the next day or two.
  • Typhoon Sanba
    -As of 03:00 UTC, Typhoon Sanba was located 250 nm south-southeast of Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan.


Natural Disaster News
  • Tornado in Zambo Sibugay, Philippines
    -One injured in tornado in Zambo Sibugay area of Philippines.
    -Tornado (buhawi) hit Poblacion village and caused damage to roofs of houses. Disaster caused total damage of just P200,000 (about $4,800).
  • Wildfire in Getty Center art museum, Los Angeles
    -Wildfire near the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Getty Center Drive has burned two acres.
