- Landslide in Mati City, Philippines
-Seven killed in landslide in remote mining village in Davao Oriental. Disaster occurred in Bangil Mining Corp. in Sitio Bangol in Tarragona, where some 7,000 small-scale miners are operating.
-Three days of heavy rains caused landslide disasters in a gold-rush mountain community.
-In January, at least 31 people were killed when a landslide hit a similar gold-rush site in Pantukan.

10:38 UTC (local time Saturday, September 01, 2012 at 06:38 AM @ epicenter) - M 4.0 light shallow earthquake in Wairarapa, New Zealand (@ 25 km depth) with epicenter located 20 km south-east of Wellington. It will have well felt by the people of Wainuiomata, Lower Hutt and Wellington.
- M 4.5 moderate earthquake in Northern Xinjiang, China (@ 38 km depth) with epicenter located 78 km SSW of Dushanzi. Just a weak shaking will have felt by the people of Shihezi, Karamay and Changji.
06:47 UTC (local time Saturday, September 01, 2012 at 02:47 PM @ epicenter) - M 5.6 strong aftershocks in Philippine Islands Region (@ 35 km depth) with epicenter located 74 km NE of San Isidro. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Santa Monica, Pilar, San Benito, Union, Libas and Del Carmen. Magnitude 7.6 powerful quake killed one in Philippines yesterday.

-Death toll from Niger floods has risen to 52.

-As of 03:00 UTC, Ileana was located 700 km W of the southern tip of Baja California.
-Ileana is moving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph.
