-Met Eireann has warned that parts of Munster and Leinster will face conditions similar to those experienced during Hurricane Charlie, which hit Ireland in August 1986.
-Met Eireann said that the wind could reach speeds of up to 110kmh in some parts of the country today. Rainfall of up to 50mm is expected in parts of Munster and Leinster. Heavy rainfall could cause rivers to burst their banks.
-South Munster and east Leinster are expected to experience the worst conditions. Motorists urged to drive with caution.
-Following Met Eireann, the bad weather is mainly due to a combination of high winds, heavy rainfall, abnormally low pressure and high tides.
-Train services suspended between Connolly and Clontarf Road.

Hurricane Charley was the costliest tropical cyclone of the 1986 Atlantic hurricane season. Hurricane Charlie caused damage in Southeastern United States (North Carolina landfall), Mid-Atlantic states, Massachusetts, Ireland and United Kingdom.
